[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”4041″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]LSU RB Corey Kiner entered the transfer portal and warped through a dimension that led him back home. Kiner went to Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati and chose the Tigers in 2021. Listed at 5’9 217 lbs., this is a big get for the Bearcats landing another high-profile player from an SEC program. This worked out great last time when the Bearcats managed to get Jerome Ford, who was previously at Alabama. Why not go back to the well?
Kiner had 79 carries last season at LSU. He ran for 324 yards and 2 touchdowns which was second on the team. Kiner also returned a pair of punts and gained 38 yards on those opportunities. Kiner still has 3 years of eligibility left and retains the option to redshirt if necessary. Athletically Kiner is of a similar profile to Ford, who the Bearcats have lost to this year’s NFL draft. Head coach Luke Fickell must continue to use the transfer portal to find talent. Fickell has built an incredible Group of 5 program and now has a CFP appearance. As he transitions his team for life in the Big 12 in the coming seasons, it will be important to find these gems if they would like to compete in that conference right away.

Kiner is a physical back who is more likely to run through you than around you. He fits the physical mold of the program his head coach has been building, and he will have a chance to be a home-grown hero for his community. Kiner is widely expected to be the starter and win the job over senior back who have been used in a reserve role behind Ford the last few seasons.

Here is an example of his tenacious running style:
