Fact or Fiction

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

Bohanan is a perfect fit at USF

Farrell’s take: FACT

I thought he’d end up at Missouri and that wouldn’t be so bad, but at USF with Jeff Scott and Travis Trickett, I think he can put up monster numbers. Trickett is a very important get for Scott from West Virginia and this was his personal mission to land Bohanon so he will get the most out of him. The roster talent is lacking slightly but Bohanan is a difference-maker on offense with his ability to extend the play and he’s going to make others around him much better. This is a great fit.

Zay Flowers raised his draft stock by staying at BC

Farrell’s take: FACT

Say you’re an NFL general manager or even an owner. You read the story of BC wide receiver Zay Flowers, one of 14 kids in a single-parent household turning down six-figure offers to leave Boston College and enter the portal. What does that do to you? It makes you want that kid on your team. I’m not saying you’re going to pick him higher than you normally would and he still has to have an outstanding season next year to stay in the round two discussion, but let’s say it comes down to Flowers and another player who’s all about NIL and jumped in. Or Flowers and another player with off-field issues. Who would you take? I’d take the kid loyal to his program.

Players will begin sitting out a year to prepare for the NFL Draft

Farrell’s take: FACT

This is next, just watch. NIL will help with this but staying in college for three seasons and risking injury when you should be in the NFL making money is outdated. And until that three-year wait changes, we will start seeing players sit out. COVID led to players like Micah Parsons, Ja’Marr Chase, and Penei Sewell missing a year and it didn’t stop them for a second nor hurt their draft stock. So if someone like Xavier Worthy at Texas has a massive year this season and still has a year to go before becoming draft eligible someone is going to have to pony up some big money for him to play a worthless third season or he’ll just sit and wait. He’s the best example I can give because in next year’s NFL Draft I think he’d be a top 15 pick but he’s not eligible until 2024.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
