Fact or Fiction

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

Clemson is the next UGA when it comes to defense

Farrell’s take: FICTION

I love Clemson’s defense this upcoming season and we all know the ACC is pretty bad, but I don’t see them winning a national title with mostly defense as the Dawgs did. That means the offense needs to click, more than it did for the Bulldogs, and that means DJ Uiagalelei has to step up. He has the talent but he needs to play much, much better if Clemson is to have a shot this year at winning it all. Bryan Bresee, Myles Murphy, and others will do their part, but it can’t carry the team.

Nick Singleton is the next Saquon Barkley

Farrell’s take: FACT

This is heady stuff I know and I have no way of saying that Singleton will be taken as high in the NFL Draft years from now. But I can say this. The excitement around this running back is as hyped as it was for Barkley when he was emerging. Singleton is the next great running back in the Big Ten.

Noah Sewell is the best LB in college football

Farrell’s take: FACT

But it’s close. I didn’t mention Trenton Simpson above when talking about Clemson but keep an eye on him. He’s going to be amazing. But Sewell is a downhill missile and in Dan Lanning’s defense, he’s going to be even better than we’ve seen. This is a possible round one pick and possibly a top 10 talent.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
