Jacksonville Jaguars – Travon Walker, DE, Georgia
With the first pick, the Jags selected Travon Walker out of Georgia. Pre-combine, Walker was a projected late first to early second-round pick. After a dominant performance at the draft combine, where he had, analytically, the best combine a DE has ever had, he rocketed to the top of the draft. Walker was a do-it-all player for the Georgia defense, doing whatever his coaches needed him to do to get stops on defense, especially against the run. While Walker was one of my favorite players in this draft, going No. 1 is far too high for him in my opinion. He reportedly interviewed well, and the Jags organization fell in love with his potential. I think he’ll be a great player, however, in the future when we look back on this draft I doubt he’ll be the best player at his position, let alone overall. A high-risk pick by the Jags but what’s new?
