Recruiting Round-up 7/26-7/27 Alabama lands Big Time Player

In today’s edition of recruiting round-up we take a look at how Alabama has handled the month, and how they have taken only high end guys this early. Saban typically makes his big moves in December and there is sure to be some of those yet to come. Still, a quality July for the Crimson Tide, including a five-star monster today.

Four-Star DL Cameron Cook Commits to TCU

Cameron Cook is 5’10 180 pound running back from Round Rock Texas. He was named to the first team all District 25 6A team. Cameron has been a force on the football field, averaging over 100 rushing yards per game. He is a tremendous athlete and has shown the ability to catch the ball effectively out of the backfield. Multiple sport star, plays baseball as well. Cook is a good football player who should be able to compete right away for playing time in Fort Worth.

Four-Star LB Malik Bryant Commits to Miami (FL)

Miami keeps momentum going as they get a pledge from a 6’2 235 LB from Orlando. This kid has ideal size being already at 235 pounds before even playing as a senior. Can play both as a stand-up linebacker or as an edge player. Tremendous in pass coverage so he can defend tight ends and running backs out of the slot and backfield. Quick twitch athlete, though lacks ideal arm length uses quality technique to beat tackles and get around the edge. Shows strong pursuit skills and sets a quality edge. Good get for Miami, and could be a guy who plays in a depth role early for the Canes.

Malik Bryant Film Review: Canes land a VERSATILE LB. Elite ability to get to the QB while showing flashes of playing in space. Could be a chess piece for our Defense as he could fill the role of 34 OLB as well. #GoCanes https://t.co/GY4DdkNV4P pic.twitter.com/dJnPR5Sqrk

Five-Star S Caleb Downs Commits to Alabama

Safety play is more important than ever at the college level, and nobody has done it better than Alabama in recent years. From Minkah Fitzpatrick, to Xavier McKinney, Landon Collins and more Alabama has always had a play maker. Caleb Downs is no different. Downs stands at 6′ 180 pounds and is from Hoschton, GA. This kid checks all the boxes, hes good in coverage, he takes great angles. Downs is a thumper, and plays with high football IQ. This is one of the best prospects in the class, and will be a guy who lasts only three seasons in college.

Four-Star DL Wilky Denaud Commits to Auburn

Wilky is 6’2 245 which makes him a big bodied edge player, but also a guy who can slide inside at the next level. He’s from Fort Pierce, FL. His body should fill out around 270 which makes him an ideal anchor on the end of a defensive front in a 4-3 scheme. Nice get here for coach Harsin
