Recruiting Round-Up 7/29-7/31

In today’s edition of recruiting round-up, we take a look at how Billy Napier and the Florida Gators have begun to make serious moves on the recruiting trail. They continue to pick up momentum as they got four blue-chip prospects to commit in a few short days. If Florida continues on their current tear they will likely land a top 10 class, they currently have rocketed all the way up to 12 in the 247sports composite ranking.

Five-Star RB Richard Young Commits to Alabama

Alabama recruits whoever they want it seems, the Tide have only just gotten started on the trail but this is yet another big fish. Young is a 5’11 200-pound running back from Lehigh Acres, Florida. Young is a powerful one-cut back who has elite speed, is physical, and can run well inside the tackles. He is the type of big-time runner that we are all accustomed to seeing at Alabama. This young man will likely have to wait his turn with the promising backs already on campus in Tuscaloosa, but when his time comes he projects to be a massive difference maker.

Alabama landed a commitment from #Rivals100 RB Richard Young on Friday.

"Alabama is where he wanted to go. That was the best place for him, the rest is history.”

Four-Star WR Aidan Mizell Commits to Florida

Mizell is a 6-foot-two-inch WR from Orlando, Florida. This kid has rare talent, he is long, tall, and an absolute burner. Mizell is the son of a former All-American track sprinter, and he has clearly inherited those genes. He can also jump and high point the ball in a way that few others can in this class. Some believe he is the fastest WR in this class, and his film makes it hard to argue against that. Explosive, can go deep, and pick up yards himself after the catch. Florida got themselves a highly coveted player.

Four-Star S Jordan Castell Commits to Florida

Castell is a 6-foot-2-inch safety from Winter Gardens, Florida. This young man is an excellent get for Florida and I will tell you why he is a big-bodied defensive back that can play both safety and corner. His body build is why he has been recruited at safety but he has primarily been an outside corner in high school and a darn good one at that. He is physical at the line of scrimmage, has tremendous long speed, and is sticky in coverage. Still, Castell will likely need to redshirt at Florida as he prepares to change his body and learn his likely new position at the next level.

Four-Star WR Andy Jean Commits to Florida

Andy Jean is another big-bodied WR for the Gators listed at 6 foot 1 inch from Miami, FL. He had a great game against IMG Academy catching six passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns. He has played some 7-on-7 as well in the off-season. Jean is a sensational athlete with incredible body control and the ability to make contested grabs. He will likely need a redshirt year to accumulate to the college game.

Five-Star LB Anthony Hill Commits to Texas A&M

A huge battle was won by Jimbo Fisher’s squad over the rival Texas Longhorns.  He stands at 6 foot two inches and is from Denton. Texas. He is the number one rated linebacker in this class and for good reason. Hill is the type of player that will only be at the program for three seasons so expect him to get opportunities right away in College Station. Anthony can play both the Mike and Will positions. He is an explosive player who finishes people with a show of violence. He is a thumper with legit speed. He can rush the passer if needed, is good at pursuit angles, and sets a quality edge. Day one contributor for the Aggies here.
