Even the top recruiting programs in the country experience some disappointments during a recruiting year. That has been the case with Oregon during the last couple of months. However, the Ducks received good news last night as per On3.

Richard Wesley, 6-foot-5 and 245-pounds, is one of the more intriguing recruits in the country after recently reclassifying into the Class of 2026 from the Class of 2027 recently. He chose the Ducks over Ohio State, USC, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Texas, which he visited each during the spring.

Considering Wesley has only played two years of high school football at Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth (CA), his production has been eye-opening. During his two seasons he has combined for 99 tackles and 19 sacks.

As for the Ducks, Wesley’s commitment gets them back on track after a string of recruiting disappointments. Most recently they saw five-star quarterback Jared Curtis commit to Georgia, but before that they have also lost out on wide receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt and saw offensive lineman Kodi Greene flip to Washington and defensive tackle Tomuhini Topui flip to USC and defensive tackle Bott Mulitalo flip to BYU.

There is no reason to worry about Oregon though, because aside from Wesley, they are in good position for several other elite recruits, including quarterback Ryder Lyons, offensive lineman Immanuel Ikeanacho and athlete Brandon Arrington.
