TRENDING: Big 12 Team Sees Flood of Portal Entries on Wednesday Morning

After a coaching change and the need to trim the roster, it became a perfect storm of transfer chaos this morning at one Big 12 program

The opening of the transfer portal window can be very chaotic, which it once again was this morning. It was definitely the case in Morgantown, where it was difficult to keep up with the flood of entries, especially from the Class of 2024.

Rich Rodriguez spoke on cutting West Virginia's roster size down a lot, calling it not fun, resulting in a high number of transfer portal departures.

Rodriguez on April 1: "The reality is we have to have some roster movement, and we're not the only ones in the country."

With the recent head coaching change at West Virignia, it is far from abnormal to see a larger than usual roster turnover. Add to that the necessity to trim rosters down to 105 players and it quickly became a perfect storm for mayhem in Morgantown.

While some of these departures were known before this morning, with it all becoming official in a few hours, it turned into a consistent flow. Here is a list of scholarship players who entered this morning:

OL Gavin Crawford (Class of 2025)

It is also important to note that four of the above players are from the Class of 2025. These players were recruited by Neal Brown and signed with the Mountaineers a few days after he was fired. They also signed a few days before Coach Rodriguez was hired.

Expect the roster turnover to continue in Morgantown and for the Mountaineers to be busy in the coming days and weeks as they continue to restock certain positions in the way that Coach Rodriguez sees fit.
