Cornerback isn’t the easiest position to make an instant impact at as a true freshman. This is especially true at a P4 program like Michigan. But Shamari Earls arrived in Ann Arbor with plenty of expectations and up to this point has not disappointed.

The buzz surrounding Earls has continued to grow louder during the last few weeks. Possessing impressive size at cornerback, 6-foot-2 and 203-pounds, he has quickly established himself as a defensive playmaker who has the potential to be special.
Having played his high school football in Virginia at Thomas Dale HS, Earls had an interesting recruiting process. He initially committed to South Carolina before flipping to Georgia in July. However, after taking an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor in late October, he once again flipped from the Bulldogs to the Wolverines less than a week later.
Expect some growing pains from Earls, but with his skillset, it would be surprising if he didn’t get thrown into the fire sooner than later.
