A legitimate 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Michigan ATH Geno Seets of Waterford Mott High School in Waterford, Mich. is every bit the warrior you would imagine battling opponents on the gridiron. He plays both ways, WR/QB on offense and safety on defense. He even runs down and covers on kickoffs.
He was the Ironman of Waterford.

In just a handful of games over the last year and a half, Seets did it all. He caught 27 passes for 547 yards and six touchdowns. In addition, Seets racked up 41 tackles, broke up two passes, and picked off three passes.
But that is only half the story.

As an athlete, what does it take to overcome adversity? It takes the proper mindset, discipline and mental focus. It is hard for adults to cultivate those attributes, but even harder for 16- and 17-year-olds.
But that is exactly what happened with Seets.
When you play sports, injuries come with the territory. How you deal with those injuries can determine one’s destiny in sports. Seets tore his ACL and he was down, but he was certainly not out.
Enter DJ Turner.
Turner runs the Return to Play program in Michigan, helping athletes return to their chosen sport with full function and movement.
Turner holds a Master’s in Applied Kinesiology from Central Michigan University and a Master’s of Applied Exercise Science, Sports Nutrition and Strength and Conditioning at Concordia University-Chicago. Turner has been a godsend to athletes like Seets.
Seets never felt sorry for himself. He entered the program with blinders on. He had the discipline to get up every day, motivated to do what it took to get healed. Seets focused on the exercises and put in the work with the training regimen. He walked without crutches sooner than expected. Failure was not an option.
Seets’s destiny in sports is to play football. Thanks to Turner’s expertise, Seets got better and stronger. Seets willed himself to heal so he could fulfill that destiny. He completed the program in 12 weeks and has been fully cleared to return to the gridiron.
Waterford Mott head coach Tra’Jan Seay had this to say about Seets:
“Geno is super smart, freakish talent and athleticism,” said Waterford Mott High School football coach Tra’Jan Seay. “One of those kids who is easy to coach because he takes calculated risks and makes plays when you need them. With his size and athleticism, he can play any skill position. From QB to backer to WR to Safety to RB, really.
“Geno is a super nice kid and very intelligent, with offers from Princeton and Penn. He is a captain’s captain, by all means.”
Seets currently holds 11 scholarship offers, including Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cornell, Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH), Sacramento State, Toledo, Wayne State and Western Michigan.
But once Seets is back on the football field and shows what he can do, like he did before, that list could grow bigger. Schools should be on notice. Sleep on Seets at your peril.
If a college coach is looking for a pure, dyed-in-the-wool football player, they can look no further than Seets.
