It isn’t out of the norm for a recruit to pull a surprise during his process, but being able to do it twice makes it a bit unique. After committing to Boise State last summer, quarterback Jackson Presley made an announcement on Sunday night that not many people saw coming.

Presley’s commitment to Boise State was the first surprise. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder, who plays at Glacier High School in Kalispell, Montana, held offers from Arkansas, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Missouri, Washington State, Florida State, Arizona and Texas A&M when he eventually committed to the Broncos. At the end it came down to Oklahoma State and Boise State, but the relationships he established in Boise and the proximity to his home in Montana were the deciding factors for Presley.
But it seems as though that proximity wasn’t close enough as now Presley will be playing his college football at Montana State. If you’re wondering, Boise is 477 miles from Kalispell, Montana while Bozeman is 291 miles away.
This is a huge recruiting victory for Montana State, which has established itself as one of the top FCS programs in the country in recent years under head coach Brent Vigen. In his four seasons in charge of the Bobcats he has accumulated a 47-10 record, four playoff appearances and a trip to the National Championship game in 2024.
Many players talk about representing their state school, but many times that’s all that it is. Presley is doing much more than talking about.
