Some programs have already found abundant success with their Class of 2026 recruiting, while others are off to slower starts. Utah had been waiting for their first commitment, which finally arrived on Sunday when three-star TE Colby Simpson made his announcement.

Simpson, 6-foot-5 and 220-pounds, had picked up an impressive assortment of offers during the last six months. Some of these include Baylor, Purdue, Arkansas, Arizona State, Wake Forest, Illinois, Mississippi State, Minnesota, Cal, Washington State and Oregon State.
However, after visiting Utah on Saturday, he decided to end his process a day later. Considering the Utes have recently developed tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Brant Kuithe, it is a decision that is easy to understand.
Simpson plays his football at one of the top high school programs in California, Oaks Christian in Westlake Village. While he only totaled seven receptions for 58 yards during his junior season, a large portion of recruiting is about potential, which Simpson has plenty of.
While Simpson is the Utes’ first Class of 2026 commitment, this is the time of year when one can turn into 10 very quickly. Look for things to get interesting in Salt Lake City over the next month.
