There are obvious connections between football and wrestling that make it sensible for someone to compete in both. But usually that is something that is done in high school. Iowa’s v, who earned All-American honors on the mat on Saturday, quickly announced on X that he will be returning to the football field for the Hawkeyes.

This won’t be Kueter’s first time on the field at Iowa, as he played linebacker for the Hawkeyes as a true freshman in 2023. However, he then focused on wrestling in 2024/2025, which resulted in an 8th place finish yesterday at heavyweight. The top eight places at each weight class earn All-American honors, which put Kueter on the podium.
Having attended Iowa City High School, the local product was a four-star linebacker recruit in the Class of 2023. He redshirted during his true freshman season, and now will be quickly transitioning back to the field with the Hawkeyes’ spring practices soon beginning.
Kueter is an elite athlete, but how quickly he can successfully transition back to football will have to be seen. Either way, he has plenty left to give to the Hawkeyes, but will it continue to be on the field, mat or both?
