TRENDING: Coach Prime May Have Found an Offensive Replacement for Travis Hunter

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders claims that redshirt freshman wide receiver Isaiah Hardge will do “incredible things”

There are plenty of questions surrounding Colorado this spring, with two of the most important being the ability to find replacements for Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Hunter’s dynamic play at wide receiver and cornerback makes it especially difficult to replace his Heisman Trophy winning production. Earlier this week, Deion Sanders claimed that there is one player who has the ability to help replace Hunter’s production on offense.

Monday was Colorado’s first press conference of the spring, and Coach Sanders went out of his way to highlight Isaiah Hardge’s abilities. Who is Isaiah Hardge? He isn’t new to Colorado, as he has been with the Buffaloes since 2023, mainly seeing time on special teams through his first two seasons. Hardge was three-star high school recruit who played high school football at national power St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale (FL).

Similar to Hunter, Hardge, who is now a redshirt freshman, has played on offense and defense with the Buffaloes, and has also returned punts. However, unlike Hunter, it seems as though Hardge will be focusing on offense during the remainder of the spring and summer leading up to the 2025 season.

With Hunter, along with Jimmy Horn Jr., LaJohntay Wester and Will Sheppard, all currently preparing for the NFL, there is plenty of opportunity in Boulder to make an impact at wide receiver. Colorado does return Drelon Miller and Omarion Miller, and brought in transfer Joseph Williams, and now everyone can throw Hardge into the mix.

Coach Sanders would know better than anyone  who is excelling in the off-season, but Hardge is not the name most expected as a breakout player. Time will tell if Coach Sanders’ prediction that Hardge does “incredible things” becomes a reality.
