It has long been considered standard for NFL teams to hold joint practices as a way to prepare for the upcoming season. This adds a new dimension to the monotony of the everyday grind, while giving the coaching staff a better understanding of what parts of their team may need some additional work.
Hours after Colorado head coach Deion Sanders stated that he liked the idea of practicing against another school, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown quickly accepted the challenge

I do believe something like this would be beneficial both to the teams and to the fans, as it gives some extra juice during the spring. However, while the idea of it is interesting, I would be very surprised if this resulted in anything tangible, especially this year.
Coach Sanders has always thought outside the box. Sometimes those ideas work and other times they don’t, but he isn’t afraid to make them public. Coach Brown has similar traits, so this practice marriage between Colorado and Syracuse makes sense in many ways. Hopefully I’m wrong and something does come of this.
