Wide receiver Colbie Young was a top transfer addition for Georgia during the winter of 2023, but the season did not go as planned. After starting the first five games in 2024, Young was suspended following an arrest for assault. With a plea deal finalized with his former girlfriend on January 29th, head coach Kirby Smart updated Young’s status:
Kirby Smart: “Colbie (Young) is with us. Colbie is cleared and he’s going to be practicing with us.”

While Coach Smart’s comments addressed Young practicing, he didn’t give any further information regarding his ability to play during the 2025 season. It appears that there is still a bit of a wait-and-see approach in Athens when it comes to their wide receiver.
While on the field in 2024, the Miami transfer totaled 11 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns. If Young is allowed to play, he would join an interesting wide receiver group, which got stronger through this winter’s portal with the additions of Zachariah Branch (USC) and Noah Thomas (Texas A&M).
