The Ohio State football team went on an epic run when they won the National Championship this past season. They have a chance to have double-digit draft picks in the NFL Draft. I will rank the top 5 NFL Draftable players from last year’s National Championship team. Safety Caleb Downs and wide Receiver Jeremiah Smith are both not eligible for this draft. If either was, they would be top of the list and be top 10 picks. Below are the top 5 Buckeye players for the NFL Draft.

Emeka Egbuka, WR
In a wide receiver class that is lacking top-flight talent Emeka Egbuka is one of the best wide receivers in the class. His ability to run routes is flawless. He is a classic slot receiver who constantly knows how to get open and catch the ball. He screams that he is a 10-year NFL Player. He might not ever be the best wide receiver in the NFL, but he will be one of the most consistent receivers. He also is a good blocker that can be used in that phase in the game as well. I think Egbuka has one of the highest ceilings in this draft.

Josh Simmons, OL
It is a real shame for Josh Simmons because, before his season-ending patella tendon tear, he was playing at a high level. According to reports at the combine, he is ahead of schedule, and it sounds like his medicals are clean overall. Simmons has good size and athleticism and projects as a starting left tackle in the NFL. He has a ton of potential and is a classic high-ceiling player. He might be a slightly risky pick because of the injury, but he has a ton of potential and he could be one of the biggest steals in the draft.

Donovan Jackson, OL
Donovan Jackson was one of the best players for the Ohio State in the second half of the year. He started the year as a guard but after Simmons was lost for the season, he was moved to left tackle, and he played at a high level. He helped solidify the offensive line. He was one of the biggest reasons Ohio State won the National Championship because of his play at the left tackle position. At the next level, he looks like someone who can now play either guard or tackle and it depends on the scheme a team is running that drafts him. Regardless, Jackson projects as a first-round pick who should have a chance at being a good player in the NFL.

Treveyon Henderson, RB
Treveyon Henderson is a perfect back for today’s NFL. The reason I say this is the NFL has largely gone to a running back-by-committee approach and I think this is where Henderson can thrive. He is not someone you want to hand the ball to 20 times, but give it to him 10-15 times a game. He is one of the most explosive players in the draft. His ability to score anytime he touches the ball is impressive. An example of this big play potential was in the College Football Playoff against Texas. Texas had just tied the game 7-7 before the half. Ohio State called a simple screen pass, and Henderson took it 75 yards to the end zone. He changed the complexion of the game with that one play. Henderson is also a complete back. On the game-winning pass to clinch the National Championship where Will Howard hit Smith doesn’t happen without Henderson making the key block against a blitzing player. If Henderson can stay healthy, he has a chance to be a special player in the NFL.

Tyleik Williams, DT
Playing defensive tackle, it is hard to get much recognition because you are constantly doing the dirty work for the defense, but a player like Tyleik Williams is invaluable. His ability to take on blockers and space is huge for stopping the run. Ohio State was great at stopping teams from scoring touchdowns in the red zone. He was a space-eater who didn’t allow any running inside his gap. Williams projects as a late first-round pick and I expect he be a starter for a long time in the NFL.
