Power conferences avoided playing weeknight games for as long as they could, but with billion-dollar television and streaming deals available, they have had to adjust. The newest sign of this is in the ACC, which announced two more Friday night games today, putting the new total at 10.

Today’s two new additions were North Carolina at Cal (Oct. 17) and Cal at Virginia Tech (Oct. 24). The Golden Bears did not have one in the initial announcement of eight, but now they have two in consecutive weeks.

Not surprisingly, North Carolina and head coach Bill Belichick will also be playing two Friday night games, with a trip to Syracuse (Oct. 31) to go along with their game at Cal.

Also of note, Louisville very well may be playing their two most important conference games of the season on Friday nights at Miami (Oct. 17) and hosting Clemson (Nov. 14), while SMU, Duke, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Stanford were the five schools to miss out on the festivities this year.
