Kyle McCord is preparing for the NFL draft and talked to the media at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis,
On3 Sports reports.
NEW: Kyle McCord on Ohio State winning the national championship without him:
“…I had a great year, and they had a great year. It was just cool to see everybody win” 💯https://t.co/ObsJbbwaUc pic.twitter.com/jTvvEvwTbY

McCord spent his first three seasons playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He became the starter in
2023. After missing the playoffs that year, McCord and the Buckeyes decided to part ways. McCord
then transferred to Syracuse.
“It wasn’t easy,” the quarterback said about the transfer. “When you pour three years of blood, sweat,
and tears into a program, and you know, you create a lot of great relationships there.”

McCord led the Orange to their first 10-win season since 2018 and a Holiday Bowl win over Washington State while earning the MVP. He led the nation in passing with 4,779 yards and added 34 touchdowns.
“It was awesome. I mean, obviously, those are my guys, so seeing them accomplish that goal was sweet,
knowing how bad they worked for it,” McCord said, championing his former teammates. “Like I said, I
had a great year, and they had a great year. It was just cool to see everybody win, to be honest.”
Both parties had big 2024 seasons. If you take McCord for his word, he genuinely is excited for his
former teammates and I’m sure he is. You have to wonder if in the back of his mind, he was hoping the
Buckeyes didn’t win the championship without him. It’s human nature.
