Aside from the coaching experience that Littrell brings to Knoxville, he is also very familiar with Coach Heupel as the two were teammates at Oklahoma. After his graduation in 2001, he began his coaching career in 2002 with Kansas. Since then, he has had several offensive coordinator jobs (Arizona, Indiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma) and was the head coach at North Texas from 2016 to 2022, where he compiled a 44-44 record.
With all ten assistant roles being filled at Tennessee, expect Coach Littrell to be announced as an offensive analyst, which nowadays is a creative way to add to a coaching staff. He will likely be tasked with film review and game week preparation while he assists offensive coordinator Joey Halzle.
