The Nick Saban era ended at Alabama after the 2023 season. In came Kalen DeBoer. Offensive tackle
Roq Montgomery thinks Bama didn’t live up to its own standards according to On3sports.
NEW: Alabama OL Roq Montgomery says they are 'more dialed in' this offseason:
“You can’t be late to workouts no more. No more jewelry. No more necklaces. None of that. It’s not a fashion show. It’s football.”

9-4 is not good enough for Alabama. The 2024 season had its ups and downs. They had wins over
Georgia and Wisconsin, but losses against Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. Those losses were the reason for
the Tide not making the CFP. Changes in the staff include Ryan Grubb coming on as offensive
coordinator. The biggest change might be in attitude.
In an interview with the Bama Standard Network, Montgomery said, “The message right now from me
and my teammates, just our entire staff, is we got a different outlook on everything. It’s like more dialed
in, more serious…”

“This is our second week of workouts. We started as a team last week. You can’t be late to workouts no
more. No more jewelry. No more necklaces. None of that. It’s not a fashion show. It’s football. Shoutout
to Coach Ballou, our head strength coach. He’s not playing that shit. Excuse my language, but he’s just
not…if somebody late to workouts, everybody got 15 up-downs on Ballou’s whistle”
Alabama has won 18 national championships, but none since 2020. “That’s not ‘Bama football.” Says
Montgomery. “I feel like everybody going in the right direction right now, But I feel come August we’re
gonna be a scary sight to see.” If he is right and the Tide bounce back, that could be very scary for the
SEC and the rest of college football.
