It’s beautiful how he transitions from talking about the leadership on the team to coaching UNLV
transfer quarterback Jayden Maiava’s father Kaluka and trying to rent a car in Maui. You get a fantastic
impression of his Greek wife and “…what do you call it, spring ball, whatever…”
Ryan was hired by USC in January to be assistant head coach for the defense/linebackers. He spent the
last three seasons as a senior defensive assistant with the Las Vegas Raiders. Between college and the
NFL, Ryan has 35 years of coaching experience.

His twin brother, Rex entertains us as an NFL analyst on ESPN. He had a 26-year coaching career of his
own.
The Trojans are hoping that bringing Ryan will help improve a defense that has struggled in recent years.
Let’s hope we get plenty of Rob Ryan press conferences in the near future. Remember, if vacationing in
Maui and something goes wrong, tell them you know “Kaluks”.
