The majority of prospects had already signed their letters of intent
to their school of choice during the first signing period back in early
December, as only three blue-chippers remained undecided, but the
final day still had some surprises. Let’s take a deep dive.

1. Four-Star Cornerback Onis Konanbanny Flips from Tennessee to Florida

The talented defensive back originally from the UK had been
committed to the Vols for a while, but there were also rumors
of him flipping. That finally came to fruition on Wednesday when
he decided to flip to their hated rival, the Florida Gators. It didn’t look too
good at the beginning of the season, but Billy Napier turned it
around, leading to a great finish for the recruiting class. This
was the cherry on top.

2. Four-Star Offensive Tackle Ty Haywood Signs with Michigan

The highest rated prospect left on the board in the 2025 class
finally decided to make his decision, which resulted in the
Michigan Wolverines winning out. The standout recruit from
Denton, Texas was originally committed to Alabama, but reopened his recruitment in December. This is a major coup for
head coach Sherrone Moore, and the Wolverines.

3. Four-Star Defensive End Zahir Mathis Signs with Maryland

Previously committed to Ohio State, which was a major win
for the Buckeyes, the star defensive lineman out of Philadelphia
chose to reopen his recruitment back in November.
Ultimately it came down to Florida State and Maryland,
with Maryland coming out on top on Wednesday’s
national signing day. With Mathis signing, the Terrapins completed
one of the best recruiting classes in school history with them
finishing in the top 20. He is by far the ring leader.

4. The SEC Finishes at the Top Once Again

Well this might sound like a broken record, but the SEC
finishes the recruiting cycle once again at the top with Texas leading
the way, as they finished with the number one class. Out of the top
ten, the SEC has seven of those spots. Only one other conference
showed up, which was the Big Ten. Ohio State, Oregon, and
Michigan were the other three. There is a reason why the most first
round picks always seem to come from the SEC.
