Charlie Strong has a long coaching history, dating back to 1983. This included head coaching jobs at Louisville, Texas and USF. Now he has found his next job, in the NFL, and back to a city he is very familiar with.

Strong’s coaching journey is an interesting one. Since starting as a graduate assistant at Florida, he has worked in eight states, 11 schools, two NFL teams and has held 13 different job titles. But he is most familiar with the state of Florida, where he has worked at three schools (Florida, USF, Miami) and now two NFL teams (Jacksonville and Tampa Bay).
With his hiring by the Buccaneers, he returns to Tampa Bay, where he was the head coach at USF from 2017 to 2019. He compiled a 21-16 record during his three seasons with the Bulls. Most recently he was a defensive assistant at Alabama under head coach Nick Saban during the 2023 season.
Considering Coach Strong’s resume, nobody should expect his return to Tampa Bay to be a long one.
