The charges against the sophomore wide receiver Johntay Cook included a pair of misdemeanors with theft as well as
interfering with public duties according to On3 Sports.

Coming out of DeSoto, Texas, Cook was ranked as the #31 overall recruit by On3 and he was also rated
as the No. 3 WR in the class and the No. 5 player out of Texas in the 2023 cycle. He was part of Texas’ #3
ranked class that year.
During his freshman season, he had eight receptions for 136 yards. 2024 saw him get eight receptions
for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He played in a total of 19 games in his two seasons in Austin. He
was seeing much less playing time during his second year.

In November Cook decided to enter the transfer portal. In late December he committed to play for the
Washington Huskies. Three week later, Cook and Washington decided to part ways. It is unknow what the
reason is behind this decision.

Johntay Cook will look to clear up his legal troubles in Texas. He will then be hoping to get an
opportunity to continue his college career. It is likely someone will take a chance on this talented
receiver.
