There are plenty of opportunities to improve your positioning for April’s NFL Draft. One of these are the East-West Shrine Bowl practices and game, which are currently ongoing in Texas. Several players have made the most of this opportunity, including an ACC quarterback who is solidifying his place as one of the top available quarterbacks:

Reports of Kyle McCord’s impressive performance during Shrine Bowl practices have been steady and abundant. In a quarterback group that is far from deep, he has quickly pushed himself into the top tier.
McCord’s story is already well known. He was shown the door at Ohio State, found a new home at Syracuse, and excelled during his one season with the Orange in 2024 with 4,779 yards, 34 touchdown passes and a 66% completion percentage.

There are plenty of stories regarding transfers that don’t work out, but McCord is the elite example of how the process can work. His time at Ohio State was over. The Buckeyes were ready to move on, which obviously also worked out extremely well for them since they just won a National Championship, and McCord needed new scenery to re-establish himself.

At the end, Ohio State was victorious, and McCord could end up being a first round draft pick. This will very likely be a win-win situation for all sides.
