Fresh off back-to-back final four appearances in the CFP, Steve Sarkisian became a top target to fill some
of the NFL job openings. Chicago, Las Vegas, Jacksonville, and others were looking for new head
coaches.
According to Action Network’s Brett McMurphy and reported on On3 Sports, Sarkisian will be staying at
Texas and sign a contract extension.

“Steve Sarkisian agrees to contract extension w/Texas after declining interviews w/2 NFL teams, sources
said,” McMurphy wrote, “UT Board of Regents chairman Kevin Eltife & AD Chris Del Conte were key
figures in getting the deal done, source said. Sarkisian has led UT to consecutive College Football Playoff
semifinal berths & double-digit win seasons for 1st time in 17 years.”
The Longhorn nation is jumping for joy today now that their coach is locked in. Texas has been trending
in the right direction the past few years and saw great success in its first year in the SEC. And with Arch
Manning under center next year, the future looks bright in Austin.
