The New York Jets have taken a very aggressive approach in their attempt to find a new head coach. Interviews have taken place throughout the week, with a new interesting name being announced this morning

Mike Locksley is a name that has not been previously mentioned during this cycle as a possible NFL head coach. He most recently was offensive coordinator at Alabama before being hired as head coach at Maryland prior to the 2019 season. His time with the Terps has been solid, yet unspectacular.
After a 5-12 start in College Park, Coach Locksley led Maryland to three straight bowl wins and a 23-16 record. Everything was trending upwards until this season when the Terps finished 4-8. Overall, he has a 33-41 record in the Big Ten. If you want to dive deeper into his head coaching history, he had a catastrophic tenure at New Mexico from 2009 to 2011 when the Lobos went 2-26. That puts Coach Locksley’s lifetime record as a head coach at 35-67.
Anyone can appreciate the Jets leaving no stone unturned during their search for their next head coach, but it is unlikely that anyone would’ve faulted them if they left this one alone.
