Since it was announced that Rich Rodriguez was returning to West Virginia to coach the Mountaineers, fans have been hoping that he would bring back some of his legendary players to help with the program. Today, it was announced that one of his best running backs, Noel Devine, would be part of the offensive staff.

Devine, along with Steve Slaton and Tavon Austin, were all elite running backs during the first Rodriguez-era. He totaled 5,025 yards of total offense and scored 31 touchdowns during his collegiate playing career. While his professional career never took off, he will always be remembered in West Virginia as a great.

While Devine may not possess much coaching experience, as an offensive analyst he can quickly establish himself as a positive addition to the program. And this is a can’t lose decision by Coach Rodriguez, who just added even more momentum to his already exciting hire.
