LOOK: SEC Transfer Takes a Shot at his Ex-Head Coach

An SEC transfer took a parting shot at his ex-head coach after committing to a new school

While there are a multitude of reasons that a player transfers, a specific reason is usually never mentioned. One SEC player took an opposite approach by being open about why he transferred out, and it was the lack of direction by the head coach.

Quarterback Walker White recently committed to Baylor after transferring from Auburn. The true freshman only played in one game this season, completing 2 of 5 passes, but was seen as a possible impact player in 2025 and beyond. Now he will be playing in Waco.

Former Auburn QB Walker White commits to Baylor via Instagram. He tells ESPN: "I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and get to work in Coach Spavital’s offense. I’m also excited that there’s a clear plan for quarterback development." https://t.co/dl1curD2Mq

White’s comments may seem a bit passive-aggressive, but they are well thought out. He points out the excitement of playing in the system of his new offensive coordinator, Jake Spavital, but then quickly brings up the “clear plan for quarterback development.”

While White is excited about the new “clear plan” it is also clear that he did not believe that head coach Hugh Freeze had much of a plan for him at Auburn. This is odd since he was a true freshman four-star high school recruit who arrived with plenty of potential less than a year ago.

Auburn’s quarterback room was a mess this season, which has resulted in it being gutted in the off-season. The Tigers quickly reloaded by adding Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma) and Ashton Daniels (Stanford). Will this quarterback room be more successful? That will take time to answer, but if White is correct regarding the lack of clear plans, then it may be more of the same at Auburn in 2025.
