In today’s Fact or Fiction I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Deion Sanders stays at Colorado.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Deion keeps surprising me so I’ll flip my early prediction and say he stays at Colorado. And it’s not because he lured QB JuJu Lewis or any other recruits as coaches bolt on signees all the time. While the NFL may still come calling and Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter will both be high picks (perhaps 1-2), I think Sanders wants to show everyone he can win without them. Colorado is in a good spot from a talent acquisition standpoint and the Big 12 has no powers so another successful season doesn’t appear to be difficult. I think he stays.
2. Austin Armstrong leaving for Houston is a bad sign for the Gators.
Farrell’s take: FACT

A lateral move for a DC is one thing but Austin Armstrong is stepping backwards out of the SEC into the Big 12 to help rebuild Houston. The Florida defense was strong at the end of the season and kids played hard for him. I know he wants to run his own show as he was the co-DC in Florida, but this seems like an odd move. While Billy Napier can breathe a little bit, he still has a year-to-year leash and perhaps Armstrong feels that more than most.

3. Kenny Dillingham did the best coaching job in 2024.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Arizona State winning the Big 12 is astonishing and, apologies to Curt Cignetti, Deion Sanders and the rest, Dillingham has worked miracles with the Sun Devils. While Cignetti brought players with him and Deion has name recognition, Dillingham did neither and turned a horrible program around in two short years. He inherited an absolute mess and is now the hottest coach in the country.
