LOOK: Alabama Cockiness Backfires Quickly

Life comes at you fast in college football, and for Alabama it only took a few hours to change their entire season.

Everyone on social media is keeping receipts, which on Saturday led to some quick embarrassment for Alabama. It all began when the school’s official Barstool site decided to mock Indiana after their loss at Ohio State:

There had been many opinions, especially from SEC country, that Indiana didn’t deserve to be in the playoffs if they suffered a substantial loss in Columbus. So, after the Hoosiers lost 38-15, the reaction on social media was quick and ruthless.

And while this reaction wasn’t surprising, the following few hours would prove that it was the wrong decision. Alabama would lose at Oklahoma, 24-3, ending any realistic shot they had at making the playoffs. As you can see, the posts during the stunning loss in Norman had a slightly different tone than the one about Indiana:

Life comes at you fast in the world of sports, and for Alabama it only took a few hours for the Tide to be humbled. And thanks Alabama’s listless effort, it also likely solidified a spot for Indiana in the playoffs. Irony is fun.
