We are winding down to the end of the season, as we enter the last quarter of the year with only a few games left to play.
There has been plenty of great ball played by numerous players, but
some have been exceptional. Here, I give my predictions on who will
be the player of the year in each Power Four conference.
1. ACC
QB Cam Ward, Miami
Transferring in from Washington State, there were high
expectations from the start along with the desperate need for Miami
to see those expectations come true. All Cam Ward has done is
exceed those expectations by a long shot. Since taking over for the
Canes, he has accumulated 3,146 passing yards with 29 touchdowns
along with a QB rating of 91.7, which leads the country. His
playmaking skills and pinpoint accuracy set him apart from many.
He is also a top Heisman candidate.
I don’t know if I have ever seen a QB look as relaxed as Cam Ward does playing Football

2. Big Ten
QB Dillon Gabriel, Oregon
More Sports News
Dillon Gabriel has had quite the journey in his college
football tenure. In his five seasons he has been at UCF (three years),
Oklahoma (one year), and now Oregon for his final season. He
became one of the best QBs in the country while at UCF, but
now he has upped his play even more. Through eight games he has
put up 2,665 passing yards along with 19 touchdowns with a 88.1
QBR, which sits him at fourth nationally. He may not win the
Heisman, but he will surely be a finalist and could even bring home a National Championship in the process.

3. Big 12
WR/CB Travis Hunter, Colorado
If you don’t know the name Travis Hunter by now then you
may just be living under a rock. Not only is he the hottest player in
all of college football on and off the field, but he is by far the the
most complete as well. He starts on both sides of the ball, which we rarely see, and he is elite at both. He could legitimately go in the first round at either position. Through the season he has 60 catches for
757 yards and eight touchdowns on offense, while on defense he has
recorded 21 tackles, 2 interceptions, 7 pass breakups, and 1 forced
fumble. He is my favorite to take home the Heisman.

4. SEC
RB Dylan Sampson, Tennessee
The player with the least notoriety, but definitely not the least talent
is Dylan Sampson. You would think a player who is on pace for
25 plus rushing touchdowns on a playoff contender in the best
conference would be all over the news feed, but that just hasn’t been
the case. I don’t know if it’s because he doesn’t play quarterback or
because he plays for Tennessee, which many pundits along with fans
all over hate despite what they say, but it’s really surprising at this
point. All he has done this year is break the single-season rushing
touchdown record at UT (19) with four games left to play, while
leading the conference in rushing with 980 yards. After Ashton Jeanty, Dylan Sampson’s name should be mentioned next—if not considered neck-and-neck—given the competition he faces.
