Countless 2023/2024 transfers have made an impact during the first half of the 2024 season. Today we take a look at the Midseason All-Transfer Defense:
DL Walter Nolen, Ole Miss (Texas A&M)
Nolen, who had two very productive seasons at Texas A&M, has played at an even higher level with the Rebels. Already with 26 tackles, six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, he is putting together an All-American season on the interior of the defensive line.
DL Derrick Harmon, Oregon (Michigan State)
While Harmon’s transfer to Oregon didn’t receive as much attention nationally as many others, it may prove to be one of the most important. With the Ducks he is enjoying his best collegiate season to date with 22 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in six games.

DL Kyle Kennard, South Carolina (Georgia Tech)
Coming off his best collegiate season in 2023 with Georgia Tech, Kennard has taken his game to an even higher level with the Gamecocks. Having totaled 17 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and two forced fumbles, he has been a consistent defensive playmaker.
DL Nic Scourton, Texas A&M (Purdue)
Expectations were extremely high for Scourton after an All-American caliber season in 2023 with Purdue. And he has continued to showcase his talent and explosiveness at A&M with 17 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and one forced fumble.
LB Chris Paul Jr., Ole Miss (Arkansas)
Paul was brought in to lead the linebacker group and has not only done that, but excelled with 48 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and three pass breakups in seven games.
LB Shaun Dolac, Buffalo (Utah State)
Dolac transferred to Utah State, yet never played a game for the Aggies as he decided to transfer back to the Bulls. And that is Buffalo’s victory as he has been dominant with 87 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks and two interceptions for the surprising 4-2 Bulls.
LB Teddye Buchanan, Cal (Cal-Davis)
Despite being only 3-3, Cal’s defense has been impressive this season. That is in large part due to Buchanan, who has 56 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks and three pass breakups in six games.
CB Trey Amos, Ole Miss (Alabama)
After starting his collegiate career with Louisiana, Amos’ one season with Alabama was disappointing. However, he has found his groove again at Ole Miss with 29 tackles, two tackles for loss, three interceptions and nation’s leading nine passes defended.
CB Jermod McCoy, Tennessee (Oregon State)
McCoy impressed at Oregon State and has continued to do the same with the Vols. Becoming a lockdown corner in the SEC, he has 16 tackles, one interception and four passes defended this season.
S Caleb Downs, Ohio State (Alabama)
While statistically it may seem as though Downs is having a disappointing season, that is far from the truth. A defensive leader for the Buckeyes, he has 26 tackles, five tackles for loss and three passes defended.
S Jalen Catalon, UNLV (Texas)
After a disappointing pitstop at Texas, Catalon has regained the form he showed at Arkansas. Already with 45 tackles, three tackles for loss, three passes defended and four interceptions, his play has been vital for the Rebels promising season.
