Fact or Fiction: Longhorns are the best, Ohio State wins rematch, Miami Hurricanes lose soon

In today’s Fact or Fiction, I take a closer look at Texas, an Ohio State/Oregon rematch and the end of Miami’s unbeaten season

In today’s Fact or Fiction I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Texas is the best team in the country.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Texas can beat you running the ball, throwing it or with defense. Quinn Ewers had an average game and they still dominated Oklahoma in every way. The Sooners may not be that good, but the balance Texas has is impressive. And an argument could be made that they are the only title contender who has a solid backup quarterback. Right now things look good for Texas.

2. Ohio State wins the rematch in the Big Ten title game.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Assuming they play again for the Big Ten title I think Oregon wins again. I know, I know I just defended Ryan Day and said the season is far from over and that’s true, but something about the way that game ended has me thinking Oregon has their number. And as injuries mount on both sides, I think Oregon has more depth despite the $20 million roster for Ohio State. It’s just a hunch.

3. Miami loses one of their next four.

Farrell’s take: FACT

The wins over Virginia Tech and Cal have me convinced that Miami is going to fall and fall soon. It likely won’t be an embarrassment to Florida State but Louisville and Georgia Tech on the road aren’t easy and Duke is formidable. And a loss for Miami might not be the worst thing as they are showing some fight in these games but might get lazy at the wrong time if they keep lucking into wins.
