Jason Whitlock, host of Fearless With Jason Whitlock, has a theory that relates to my recent article about a perfect storm brewing for Deion Sanders to potentially replace Mike Norvell as head coach of the Florida State Seminoles. Whitlock believes that Coach Prime and his son, Shedeur Sanders, could end up with the Miami Dolphins in a package deal for next season.
Whitlock is one of the most vociferous critics of Deion Sanders, and often does entire shows to the topic of Coach Prime. Many of Whitlock’s takes on Sanders make sense and are based on football logic. But sometimes, on a slow news day, Whitlock will go half-cocked into Never Ever Land regarding the Colorado coach and Florida native.
This time, however, Whitlock is more right than wrong and is definitely onto something. Once again, the timing couldn’t be better—a perfect storm is brewing.
Coach Prime Won’t Be in Boulder for Long
In his second season as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, Deion Sanders is leading a 4-1 team that’s in the thick of the Big 12 championship race. Led by Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter, and Jimmy Horn Jr., the Buffs have star power. However, their interior line play leaves much to be desired. Colorado ranks a dismal 126th in rushing yardage and 88th defensively. Typically, such numbers aren’t sustainable for long-term success, but so far, the star power has been enough to carry Colorado.
This week will be the biggest test of the year for Colorado. The Buffs host the Kansas State Wildcats, arguably the best and most fundamentally sound team in the Big 12, with their own marquee man, quarterback Avery Johnson. If Colorado beats Kansas State, it will be a serious statement that they’ve got something special going. But if the Wildcats slap them back down, the season could unravel.

More importantly, there’s little chance of Deion Sanders returning to Colorado in 2025. Shedeur, his brother Shilo Sanders, Travis Hunter, and Jimmy Horn Jr. are all likely leaving after this season. Coach Prime has relied almost exclusively on the transfer portal to fill his roster, and he made no serious or sustained effort at recruiting.
So, the question isn’t if Prime will return—but where he will go.
Deion Sanders is out of his mind saying this sh%t PUBLICLY about the Miami Dolphins, Tua, and THEIR business decisions.
I love Deion, but WOWWW…
How do you do this as the current HC of a major college program? 🤯

Prime Time to End Miami Vice of Softness
The Miami Dolphins are 2-3 and no longer considered legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has struggled to stay in the lineup since his days with the Alabama Crimson Tide and has suffered multiple concussions. Tua remains out on injured reserve indefinitely.
Meanwhile, head coach Mike McDaniel has been exposed as a softy. The pajama boy media loves that McDaniel weeps for his injured players, but the fact remains that the Dolphins no longer play hard for McDaniel because they do not respect or fear the coach.
Before McDaniel, Miami fired Brian Flores because of conflicts with general manager Chris Grier. Flores was considered too demanding and abrasive, including by Tua, who said he prefers McDaniel’s kinder, gentler approach.
These days, Flores’ stock could not be higher. Flores is the defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings and is playing a key role in a transformational season. Flores will be a head coach again very soon, and he has been vindicated as the better man compared to McDaniel.
Deion Sanders, on the other hand, may be better suited for pro football, where box office appeal often rivals the importance of on-field success. The NFL, with its growing emphasis on entertainment and marketability, attracts casual fans and women, even as the quality of play declines.
Sanders guarantees both attention and ticket sales for the Dolphins. Shedeur is touted as certain first-round draft material, and even Shilo could potentially fill a reserve role in Miami. Like in Colorado, Coach Prime would be the star, delegating the X’s and O’s to his assistants. As one of the greatest cornerbacks in NFL history and a Hall of Famer, Sanders would bring instant credibility..
Coach Prime and Shedeur heading to Miami not only makes sense—it might actually work.
