In today’s Fact or Fiction I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Kalen DeBoer’s seat just got warm.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I know it sounds dumb but hear me out. DeBoer is just a few games into his tenure at Alabama and isn’t going anywhere soon. However, following Nick Saban is impossible and losing to a team that hasn’t beaten your program in 40 years is bad. So now Alabama fans are wondering “did we hire the right guy?” a week removed from beating Georgia. DeBoer will be questioned and rightly so and how his team responds will be pivotal. Is this the start of a 9-3 season? Will Alabama win the SEC or make the playoff? If this season falls short and the loss to Vandy is the reason it will be a long off season.

2. A&M is for real.

Farrell’s take: FACT

The loss to Notre Dame wasn’t pretty and looked even worse when ND lost to Northern Illinois but the Aggies kept their collective heads down and worked. They’ve struggled at times but their win over Missouri was an absolute domination and they are hitting their stride. Aside from LSU the rest of the schedule looks easy heading into the season finale against Texas and this could be a sleeper playoff team. Mike Elko is that dude.

3. Miami is being gifted wins.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Questionable calls occur often in every game and Miami has had a share of good ones go their way against Virginia Tech and Cal, but this team has fought back and never quit and has showed the fire needed to win these two games. Opposing coaches have helped as well and Mario Cristobal has done a good job keeping his team focused and in close games. Those who hate Miami will say the ACC is making sure they do undefeated which is dumb. Where has the ACC been all these years when Miami never came close to winning the conference. Miami is winning because they are better.
