Ok let’s take some time to think here. Has Deion Sanders figured this thing out?
Since the first half of the Nebraska game, Coach Prime and Colorado have run the ball better, played better defense and played harder as a football team. When things could have fallen apart after the loss to the Huskers, the team has come together. When they could have folded down 10 points to Baylor in the fourth quarter, they united. It’s kind of impressive.
Yes, they’ve been lucky. The Baylor game was over until Dave Aranda and staff let them have life. It took an improbable last second pass to send that game into overtime. And without Travis Hunter, this team doesn’t win a game so they are overly reliant on him and Deion’s son Shedeur. They are star heavy. But they are also 4-1 and 2-0 in their new conference, the Big 12.

But you gotta hand it to Deion. The haters, and I’ve been one of the critics, will say Baylor and UCF stink. And they’re right in many ways. But UCF was a 13.5 point favorite at home and got drilled. The portal heavy approach, the favoritism towards his sons and Hunter, the constant battle with the media – Deion has been heavily criticized and scrutinized for each. And while I still think it all falls apart soon enough, you have to admit he’s coaching his team up and they are playing better.
Hate all you want, but maybe those receipts that he kept will be called in.
