In their much-awaited opening game of Coach Prime‘s second
season, the Buffs pull out a 31-26 win over the North Dakota State
Bisons. They were led with no surprise by their two Heisman
candidates in QB Shedeur Sanders and “Mr. do everything” Travis Hunter.
It all started from the jump after the Buffs gave up a field goal on
the opening drive of the ball game. The next series Shedeur would
go 4/4 on the drive ending with a 41-yard touchdown pass to Hunter
to get things started. North Dakota State would then answer with
their own touchdown from QB Cam Miller. They would score again,
but not very much after that.
Colorado also had some other players step up as well, Jimmy Horn
to be exact. He would score on a 69-yard bomb from Sanders on the
second drive. Horn wound up finishing the game with seven
receptions for 198 yards. If not for Travis Hunter he would
definitely get more shine, but tonight it was his show, as for his hat
trick he would make an incredible catch in the end zone to stretch
their score to 31. Sanders would also end with a gaudy stat line of
445 yards along with four scores through the air.

In all, it was a good game to watch from both teams. I expect North
Dakota State to keep their winning ways alive in the FCS, while I
see much improvement from the Buffs. Their offensive line is leaps
and bounds better outside of the run game, but the defense still has some work to do. With
Sanders along with Hunter and the rest of the crew though, it should
be exciting no matter what.
