In today’s Fact or Fiction I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Georgia Tech is underrated.
Farrell’s take: FACT
If you are physical up front on offense and defense and you can run the ball, you’re underrated. We didn’t know how good Georgia Tech would be and I’m not saying they will win the ACC title, but they’re going to give some ACC teams some real problems as evidenced by their win over Florida State. Brent Key is a great fit as a coach and his players believe in him. Sometimes it’s not the biggest names that need to be hired, just a guy who the kids believe in.
2. Mike Norvell is making excuses.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
While some are making a big deal out of Norvell mentioning his offense going without helmet communication effectively during the loss to Georgia Tech, Norvell is about as standup a coach as there is. He’s blaming himself and to a lesser extent his staff and putting nothing on the players despite poor play. This is how you do it and why his team has believed in him so strongly.

3. The Colorado win was impressive.
Farrell’s take: FACT
NDSU is a FCS team we all know this, but they could compete in any Power Four league and would likely be middle of the pack in the Big 12 with more resources. This was a tough opponent and they could have easily tripped up the Buffs. Travis Hunter saved the day and shows how one great player can make a difference in an early game. This was an important win for Colorado and impressive.
