Coach Prime will go 4-8

Colorado’s season starts tonight and I see it finishing at 4-8. Here is a look at each game

So let’s do it, let’s predict the record for the Colorado Buffaloes this season.

North Dakota State — This should be a win. NDSU is a FCS program and the talent disparity is large. It would take some turnovers and bad coaching to lose this one.

At Nebraska — I have this as a loss despite last year’s win over the Huskers. While Nebraska has a freshman QB, I doubt he hands the game away like Jeff Sims did and I like the advantage Nebraska has at OL. They should pressure Shedeur Sanders as they did last year and win a lower scoring game.

At Colorado State — I have this as a win but it will be close as last year’s game was. Colorado State isn’t overly talented but this is a bitter rivalry and they will bring their best. I have the Buffs by a field goal.

Sep 2, 2023; Fort Worth, Texas, USA; Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders (2) celebrates a touchdown in the first quarter against the TCU Horned Frogs at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

Baylor — I have this as a win even though I like Baylor QB DeQuan Finn a lot. He’s going to be a real problem but Baylor is a mistake prone team and will struggle on defense.

At UCF — I have this as a loss. Gus Malzahn runs the ball, his teams are always physical and they will wear down the Buffs in a ground and pound win at the Bounce House.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

Kansas State — I have this as a loss and it could be ugly as Avery Johnson will run all over the Buffs defense. He’s not an accomplished passer yet but he can scoot and they won’t be able to contain on him. And Kansas State is going to be very good on defense.

At Arizona — This is a loss as the Arizona offense wins in a shootout at home and a lack of depth will be begin to hurt Colorado as injuries tend to mount.

Nov 11, 2023; Boulder, Colorado, USA; Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders (2) celebrates his touchdown with head coach Deion Sanders in the first half against the Arizona Wildcats at Folsom Field.

Cincinnati — This is a win as the Bearcats aren’t a good team at all and need a major overhaul.

At Texas Tech — I have this as a loss as Joey McGuire is a good coach, he has a sneaky good roster and they play tough. This is a tough game on the road late in the season.

Utah — I have this as a loss as Utah is too physical, too deep and too well coached. The trench disparity will be on display here as their OL will push Colorado around.

At Kansas — This is a loss as Lance Leipold always has his teams ready, Jalon Daniels is a massive problem for everyone and this group of 2 and 3 stars plays as hard as anyone in the country.

Oklahoma State — The season ends with another loss as the run game of Okie State and the experience of Mike Gundy pays dividends. At this point the fight is out of the Buffs as the season is ending similar to last year.

Conclusion: I have this as a 4-8 season but it’s so hard to tell. The Big 12 isn’t the down league everyone thinks, they have a lot of smart and experienced coaches and they play hard. I think the lack of depth will be an issue for the Buffs as injuries will obviously occur and I don’t believe the OL and run game will be much better. Many have Colorado going 8-4 or 7-5 but I just don’t see a bowl game and this will be Deion’s final season in an overall embarrassing two seasons.
