With action in the transfer portal slowing down, it is time to take a closer look at how each P4 school did during this cycle. Up now are the Minnesota Golden Gophers
The skinny: Head coach PJ Fleck has done a quality job building a foundation during his time with Minnesota, but with that now come expectations. Some of their recent expectations have been hindered due to a lack of a passing game, which they hope to have resolved with the addition of a portal quarterback. The Gophers added a few other intriguing players, while only losing a few depth pieces from their roster during this cycle.

Key losses: None
Key additions: WR Tyler Williams – Georgia, DL Adam Kissayi – Clemson, DL Jaxon Howard – LSU, DB Ethan Robinson – Bucknell, QB Max Brosmer – New Hampshire, OL Aluma Nkele – UTEP
Final thoughts: The Gophers needed to figure out a way to find a more reliable passing game, which they hope can be accomplished by Max Brosmer. The FCS transfer has performed like a veteran since his arrival during the winter, so expectations are high that he can spark the offense. Another FCS transfer may be the Gophers’ most important defensive transfer too, as Ethan Robinson will be relied on to start at cornerback. The defense also added two young, exciting defensive ends, Jaxon Howard and Adam Kissayi, who won’t be relied on this season due to the existing depth at the position, but should be able to gain valuable experience in 2024. Coach Fleck has the program in a good place, but can they take the next step this season?
