Heading into a busy summer full of rumors, visits and commitments, the 2025 recruiting class has seen a few names break off their pledges and reopen their recruitments. Let’s take a look at some of the players that have become available and some of their considerations on the recruiting trail.

Shaun Terry (Notre Dame)

Ironton, OH (Ironton)

#645 NAT, #102 WR, #22 OH

The southern Ohio product had committed to coach Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame on February 18th but just announced on Saturday that he’s back to exploring his options. It’s hard to speculate on the exact reason that Terry broke off his commitment, but the Irish are in pursuit of a few different receivers in the class including Talyn Taylor (#10 WR), who has a similar skillset, which could be a factor.

I anticipate that Terry is going to take his time in deciding to give a new school his pledge. Some names to keep an eye on are USC, Missouri, and Nebraska, with the Huskers being the most recent offer for the talented receiver. Not much intel is available to give anyone pole position yet, but coach Eli Drinkwitz and Missouri seem to be high on the list.

Early Prediction: Missouri

Waden Charles (Miami)

West Palm Beach, FL (Palm Beach Central)

#325 NAT, #15 WR, #46 FL

Nearly nine months after his commitment to coach Mario Cristobal and Miami, the 6’2″, 185-pound Charles has reopened his recruitment. The Canes have other targets at receivers in the class, including the pursuit of Jaime Ffrench (#4 WR), but currently have no other wide receiver commitments in their 2025 class.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

Looking at what’s next for Charles, the two teams that currently stand out are Arkansas and UCF. Visits are already scheduled for both schools in June, and Charles’ high school teammate, Kamare Williams (#71 WR), committed to coach Sam Pittman and Arkansas on May 21st. There’s still a lot of time to go in this recruitment, but I would give an early lean to the Razorbacks.

Early Prediction: Arkansas

Bradley Martino (Toledo)

Naples, FL (Golden Gate)

#530 NAT, #30 ATH, #71 FL

It only seemed like a matter of time before Bradley Martino backed off his commitment to coach Jason Candle and Toledo. The 6’4″, 175-pound athlete, primarily seen as a safety at the next level, appears destined to end up at a school in a power conference and is receiving more attention as the 2025 cycle progresses.

The schools that have scheduled visits with Martino are Minnesota, Michigan State, and Mississippi State but there is not much indication as to who might be in the lead right now. This recruitment will likely take some time to play out as more schools discover what Martino can bring to the table, widening the options for the Florida product. I’ll give a slight early lean to coach Jeff Lebby and the Bulldogs due to proximity to home, but there’s no other clear reason at this point.

Early Prediction: Mississippi State

Robert McDaniel (Cal)

Hughson, CA (Hughson)

#846 NAT, #53 QB, #68 CA

A quarterback commitment at this stage in the cycle holds significant weight, and Robert McDaniel already has a destination lined up, committing to Arizona just two days after decommiting from Cal. Coach Justin Wilcox and the Golden Bears will likely look to add another quarterback in the class, but many options have been exhausted during the period McDaniel was committed.

This is a nice win for coach Brent Brennan and the Wildcats. A quarterback commitment could be a catalyst for a class with only two commitments heading into June. I believe Arizona will be the end result of this recruitment although McDaniel has been a late riser in the recruiting rankings.

Final Prediction: Arizona
