With action in the transfer portal slowing down, it is time to take a closer look at how each P4 school did during this cycle. Up now are the Florida State Seminoles
The skinny: 2023 was a magical season for Florida State, even though it ended abruptly and for many, prematurely. The Seminoles lost a great deal of talent from that roster to graduation and the NFL, so head coach Mike Norvell knew that he had to once again be aggressive in the portal to try and quickly reload. Early signs in the spring indicate that Florida State’s additions will be invaluable in 2024, which should once again put the Seminoles in the hunt for an ACC Championship.

Total # entries into portal: 32
Total # of scholarship players who entered portal: 20

Key losses: DB Greedy Vance (USC), LB DJ Lundy (Colorado), DL Gilber Edmond (South Carolina)
Key additions: QB DJ Uiagalelei (Oregon State), WR Malik Benson (Alabama), DE Marvin Jones Jr. (Georgia), WR Jalen Brown (LSU), RB Jaylin Lucas (Indiana), DB Earl Little Jr. (Alabama)
Final thoughts: While the Seminoles had 20 scholarship players enter the portal, it is difficult to pinpoint any that could be defined as a major loss. However, they added several who should immediately become key contributors this season. It all starts with QB DJ Uiagalelei, who gained plenty of experience and maturation at Clemson before playing for one season at Oregon State. While he isn’t an elite playmaker, he is a talented veteran who is more than capable of leading the Seminoles to a big season. Helping him will be the wide receiver duo of Malik Benson and Jalen Brown. Replacing Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson won’t be simple, but Benson and Brown both have NFL potential. And on defense, DE Marvin Jones Jr. and DB Earl Little Jr. both impressed during the spring.
