Coach Prime and the Buffaloes flip an all-conference running back.

With the mass exodus of players migrating out of Boulder, Colorado, it is a wonder if the Buffaloes will be able to field a team this fall. 

However, Deion Sanders in typical “Prime Time” fashion, flipped the commitment of an all-conference running back to fill a position of significant need via the transfer portal. In addition, the Buffaloes also landed a productive and talented linebacker. 

Oklahoma State, UCF, Louisville, and the national champion Michigan Wolverines upgraded their depth charts for the upcoming season.

RB Rashad Amos

Colorado Buffaloes (Miami-OH.)

6’2”, 234 lbs.

In 2023, Rashad Amos rushed for 1,075 yards and 13 touchdowns on his way to earning 3rd Team All-MAC honors. Amos recorded four games of 100 yards rushing, a season-high 180 yards and a touchdown in a 13-9 loss to Appalachian State in the Avocados from Mexico Cure Bowl. 

In addition, Amos scored at least one rushing touchdown in each of the final seven games of last season, and scored multiple rushing touchdowns in three games.

Amos fills a position of need for the Buffaloes, albeit just one finger plugging a hole in a dam with many holes as many players from last year’s roster have taken planes, trains, and automobiles out of Boulder.

LB Nikhai Hill-Green

Colorado Buffaloes (from Charlotte)

6’2”, 232 lbs.

Last season, Nikhai Hill Green was highly productive for the 49ers of Charlotte, racking up 73 tackles that ranked 2nd on the team. In addition, Hill-Green totaled nine tackles for loss and two sacks. In addition, he posted three games of double-digit tackles. Against Tulsa, Hill-Green racked up 11 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in a 33-26 win.

Hill-Green is another talented player that can help the Buffaloes win some football games sooner rather than later. And, that bodes well for Coach Prime.

RB Trent Howland

Oklahoma State Cowboys

6’3”, 240 lbs.

In 2023, Trent Howland led the Hoosiers in rushing with 354 yards and two touchdowns. Howland is built more like a linebacker than a running back. He posted a season-high 77 yards and one TD in a 24-21 loss to the Spartans of Michigan State. He will be stuck behind Ollie Gordon as a backfield mate. With his size, Howland may want to consider a position change.

DB Tre’Quon Fegans

UCF Knights (from USC)

6’1”, 190 lbs.

As a redshirt freshman in 2023, Tre’Quon Fegans registered nine tackles for the Trojans. A transfer from Alabama, Fegans was the 105th-ranked player in the Class of 2022. Fegans saw action in six games a season ago, recording tackles against Cal, Washington, and Oregon. As a unanimous 4-star recruit in high school, Fegans helped lead Thompson High School in Alabama to three consecutive Class 7A state titles.

DL Rene Konga

Louisville Cardinals (from Rutgers)

6’4”, 290 lbs.

Rene Konga brings 20 games of college experience to Louisville and fills a position of great need for head coach Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals. Konga totaled eight tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack a season ago with the Scarlet Knights. With the defections from that position recently, Konga could play himself into a starting role by the end of fall camp.
