In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL Draft edition — I look at three big recent topics around the NFL Draft and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. The Bears are stuck and have to take QB Caleb Williams No. 1 overall.
Farrell’s take: FACT
This isn’t shade on Williams even though I have him No. 4 on my QB board because of potential attitude issues. This is just where the Bears have landed. A great trade with Carolina lands them at No. 1 overall and now they have no choice. Trade down? They can’t as QB is a massive need with Justin Fields traded. Take another QB? You’ll be scrutinized for a couple years at least even if Williams struggles elsewhere unless your QB pick lights it up immediately. Williams has to be the choice and he has the talent to succeed. But is he the leader needed?

2. QB Jayden Daniels wanting to be the best running QB ever is bad news.
Farrell’s take: FACT
The Washington Commanders are likely to take the LSU QB No. 2 overall but they don’t want to hear this goal that Daniels recently stated. Lamar Jackson has yet to reach a Super Bowl and Michael Vick never did so being a better runner than those two is about personal success and not team success. Plus Daniels is 210 pounds and has taken some serious hits in college. While he’s tough, NFL hits are different and he could end up injury prone. The Commanders, or whoever drafts him, need to reel him in.

3. The Chargers go WR at No. 5.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Trust me when I tell you that Jim Harbaugh’s immediate want is to go OL or trade back and go OL. He’s infatuated with offensive linemen and building the team that way. But this isn’t all his decision and either Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, or Rome Odunze will be there at No. 5. They are enamored with Nabers I hear but MHJ would also be beyond tempting and that’s who I have them taking. I think WR is still the plan despite the depth of the position in this draft.
