In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL Draft edition — I look at three big recent topics around the NFL Draft and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. QB JJ McCarthy could go No. 1 overall.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Don’t believe these rumors. Chicago is set on QB Caleb Williams and whatever else is being said is a joke. And it’s unnecessary as well, as the Bears have all the power at No. 1. Maybe it’s floated to see if a team-loving McCarthy will sell their soul for the first pick? Who knows? But this isn’t happening despite the late rumor during lying season.

2. QB Spencer Rattler is rising up draft boards.
Farrell’s take: FACT
At first, I thought he’d slip possibly down to round three to the Broncos in what would be an amazing fit, but now I’m heading to the top of round two for Rattler as teams become QB panicked. There could be five first-round QBs, which means everyone is trying to jockey for position in round two, and someone will trade up and snag him before the 50th overall pick. Just watch.

3. The Seahawks go Michael Penix Jr. at No. 16.
Farrell’s take: FACT
With former Washington OC Ryan Grubb in Seattle and Penix Jr. likely to be available I think it will be too tempting for Washington to pass on the QB. I don’t think he’s a mid-round one talent, but the comfort in the Grubb system and his local fame will be nice additions as they transition from Geno Smith. New head coach Mike MacDonald is a risk taker, and I don’t think he minds this risk.
