A total of 91 FBS players entered the spring transfer portal window on Day 2. Here, I profile a familiar name who seems to regard the portal as his home away from home. In addition, four other players are seeking a football life elsewhere.
OT Kadyn Proctor
Iowa Hawkeyes
6’7”, 360 lbs.
An All-SEC Freshman selection in 2023, Kadyn Proctor started every game at left tackle for the Crimson Tide and graded out at 67% (on 811 snaps), according to Pro Football Focus.
As a senior in high school, Proctor was the #1 prospect at his position and was a Top 5 player nationally, according to 247Sports.

However, when the “goat” Nick Saban retired after Alabama’s loss to Michigan in the college football playoff semifinals, Proctor though it was best to exit Tuscaloosa and return home and play for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Proctor has since changed his mind and has entered the transfer portal once again, this time with a “Do Not Contact” tag attached. He leaves behind a field of “broken” dreams in Iowa to presumably return to an Alabama program now led by new head coach Kalen DeBoer.

Who knows what kind of playing shape he is in. I guess we will find out during 15 practices in fall camp in the dog day afternoons of August.
DE Keyron Crawford
Arkansas State Red Wolves
6’4”, 240 lbs.
In 2023, Keyron Crawford racked up 45 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a blocked kick. In addition, Crawford posted four games with six or more tackles.

Schools that have expressed interest in Crawford include Georgia Tech, Pitt, Cal, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Minnesota, and Mississippi State. Another team that could use a talent like Crawford is the LSU Tigers, who have a shortage of depth at the defensive line position.
DB Nikai Martinez
UCF Knights
5’11”, 170 lbs.
Tied for the team lead with three INTs in 2023, Nikai Martinez recorded 54 tackles for the Knights. In two seasons in Orlando, Martinez has totaled 75 tackles and six passes defended.

Damonic Williams
TCU Horned Frogs
6’2”, 320 lbs.
Damonic Williams recorded 33 tackles, five tackles for loss and three sacks for the Horned Frogs last season. In a loss to Texas Tech, Williams posted a season-high seven tackles. Schools that are pursuing Williams include Cal, Colorado, Kansas, USC, and Georgia.

Edge Jaxon Howard
LSU Tigers

As a true freshman in 2023, Jaxon Howard played in five games in Death Valley for the Tigers, recording two tackles and one quarterback pressure.

Howard has received interest from such schools as Michigan State, Indiana, Washington, and Michigan. Another possibility that makes sense for Howard is the Minnesota Golden Gophers as Howard is a native of the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
