We took a look at the ACC, now let’s look at the current quarterback battles going on this Spring in the Big Ten.
Michigan – Alex Orji, Jadyn Davis, Jack Tuttle, Jayden Denegal, & Davis Warren
With JJ McCarthy and Jim Harbaugh both gone to the NFL now, new head coach Sherrone Moore has his hands full with a wide-open quarterback competition in his first Spring. Alex Orji, Jadyn Davis, Jack Tuttle, & Jayden Denegal will all be eyeing that starting job. None of these guys have real experience as a starter. Tuttle technically has the most experience, but he’s been a backup for his whole career.
The Wolverines have said they are taking their time with making the decision, I expect it to be Orji, but as of now it is wide open.

Ohio State – Will Howard, Devin Brown, Julian Sayin, & Air Noland
I personally only think that Will Howard, Devin Brown, and Julian Sayin all have a shot at starting. Freshman Air Noland is in the mix as well, but he seems to be sitting at fourth string as of now. Howard came over from Kansas State after being highly sought after in the transfer portal. Brown lost the starting battle vs Kyle McCord last season and Sayin originally went to Alabama but moved over to Columbus after Nick Saban retired.
Howard has the most experience, Brown has the experience of being at Ohio State, and I believe Sayin has the most talent. Howard has the edge at the moment, but it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Oregon – Dillon Gabriel & Dante Moore
This one seems to be Dillon Gabriel to lose. He has the experience over Dante Moore and Oregon went straight to him when he left Oklahoma and hit the portal. Moore committed a little later after transferring from UCLA. I believe he’ll sit and learn for a year and then take over the reins in Eugene after 2024. The Ducks are in a good position with their quarterback situation, which is key as they head into their first season in the Big Ten.

USC – Miller Moss & Jayden Maiava
Miller Moss was very impressive for USC in their bowl game last season vs Louisville, going 23 for 33 with 372 yards and 6 touchdowns. With that, he still finds himself in a QB battle this spring with Jayden Maiava. Maiava transferred in from UNLV and has impressed so far. He threw 17 touchdowns last season and threw for over 3,000 yards as an RS Freshman.
I ultimately see Moss winning the job and being good this season. Whoever it is, will have to be on their A-game as the Trojans jump in competition.

Nebraska – Dylan Raiola, Daniel Kaelin, & Heinrich Haarberg
A lot of people immediately thought Dylan Raiola would immediately start for the Cornhuskers after flipping his commitment to them from Georgia. I do still think he will eventually be the answer for Nebraska, but apparently, that isn’t as sure of a thing as people thought. As of now, there is still a quarterback battle going on between Raiola, Daniel Kaelin, and Heinrich Haarberg.
I would really be surprised if Raiola doesn’t start considering his raw talent and the state of the Nebraska program. They need that type of talent on the field to add a spark that they haven’t had in recent years.
