In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. DL Trent Wilson lands at Oklahoma.
Farrell’s take: FACT
The Maryland DL is down to the Sooners, Penn State, Ohio State, and Texas A&M, but this has been the Sooners’ commitment to lose for months. Former Wise HS player Jalil Farooq is at OU, and Brent Venables recruits East Coast defensive players very well. I’d be surprised if they lost this lead.
2. Ohio State can take the lead from Notre Dame for DL Damien Shanklin.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
Shanklin visits Ohio State and others this spring, but the Indiana native has Notre Dame high on his list, and I don’t think Marcus Freeman will let him leave the state. Others like Tennessee and Texas are in play, and this could be a battle. Ohio State gets the first official, but give me Notre Dame in this one.

3. Mizzou sends a statement with QB Matt Zollers.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Zollers is a top-10 national QB in the 2025 class and was coveted by Georgia and others, so this is a flex for Mizzou and Eli Drinkwitz. He’s a Pennsylvania kid, so an out-of-state get, as many QBs are, so that’s not the impressive part. His offer list is solid but not great, but this is the kind of kid who never would have committed to Missouri before their big season last year. This is about momentum.
